1. Basics of Cookies & Technologies
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your device when you visit our website. Cookies do not contain malware. They are used to make our services more user-friendly, efficient, and secure.
Local Storage & Session Storage
In addition to traditional cookies, we also use so-called web storage technologies (local storage & session storage). In this case, data is stored locally in your browser’s memory.
This data is not automatically transmitted to our servers. Data stored in local storage remains until you clear your browser cache, while session data is automatically deleted when you close your browser. We use this technology, for example, to store your display preferences.
2. Legal Basis & Standards
National & European legislation
Storing information on your device or accessing information already stored on your device is only permitted in accordance with Section 25 (1) TDDDG (Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act) with your consent, unless a statutory exemption applies.
The processing of personal data collected through these technologies is subsequently based on the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
Exception for technically necessary cookies
An exemption from the requirement for consent applies under Section 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG for cookies and technologies that are technically necessary to provide our service.
The lawful processing of personal data collected via technically necessary cookies is based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and fully functional service in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.
3. Categories of Technologies Used
Technically necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the core functionality of the website. This includes security functions, load balancing, storing your cookie preferences (consent status), and session management. They cannot be disabled without significantly affecting the functionality of the website.
Preference cookies
Preference cookies allow a website to remember information that affects how the website behaves or looks, such as your preferred language or selected display settings.
Statistics & analytics tracking
For reach measurement and analysis of user behavior, we use the open-source tool Umami. Umami is configured in a privacy-friendly way and operates entirely without cookies (cookieless tracking). No directly identifiable personal data is processed. Usage data (e.g. visited pages, device type, browser, anonymized origin) is collected in aggregated form.
The legal basis for this cookieless, anonymized reach measurement is our legitimate interest in statistical analysis and demand-oriented optimization of our website in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.
No data is transferred to third countries outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).
4. Your Rights & Preference Management
Withdrawal & adjustment (consent management)
You have the right to withdraw any consent given for non-essential cookies at any time or adjust your preferences. The lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal remains unaffected.
